Half a dozen Peace Country farm and ranch families were honoured over the weekend for 100 years on the land. One recipient of the Century Farm and Ranch Awards was Neil Boyd from Fairview.
The third generation farmer says he’s humbled by the milestone, and wouldn’t have reached it without a lot of support.
“The farm is part of the family. The farm is the land, it’s mother nature, I’m just happy to be part of it. And I wouldn’t say I’m at the helm, I feel more like I’m just included.”
Other farms and ranches in the area who reached their centennial milestone this year include the Chelich family, also from Fairview, the Rowe and Bagan families from Berwyn, the Woronuk family of Rycroft, and the Kirkham family of Sexsmith.
