Flooding prompts emergency response in Sexsmith

The Town of Sexsmith is dealing with even more flooding from melting snow. Several local roads have been closed, and drivers are being asked to watch for and obey any signs.

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Operations Centre has been activated and is monitoring the situation. An Alberta Emergency Information Alert has also been issued.

Other areas of the County of Grande Prairie have been dealing with days of flooding. An updated list of road closures as of Thursday night can be found online.

In Birch Hills County, overland flooding has lessened in the Wanham area, but continues in the Kakut Lake, Peoria, South Codesa, Eaglesham and Tangent areas. Flooding is also still an issue in the MD of Smoky River, MD of Greenview, and MD of Fairview.
