Grande Prairie teachers will have a chance this week to hear from a professor of education visiting Alberta all the way from New Zealand.
Public School District Superintendent Carol Ann MacDonald says Dr. John Hattie is a renowned educational researcher at the University of Auckland. and an expert on how students learn.
“He has really taken all of the research and then he’s given us some ideas of how best to respond and have students respond to you in the classroom.”
Hattie will be in Grande Prairie on Friday for his presentation.
MacDonald says a handful of teachers from each of their schools will attend, and then bring back what they learn to the rest of their colleagues.
Along with locals, there will also be representatives from several other jurisdictions in Alberta and northeast B.C. among the 350 people registered.
