Grande Prairie woman charged in 2017 homicide

A fifth person has now been charged in connection with a homicide from nearly a year ago. 20 year old Paige Eileen Burkenshaw of Grande Prairie is facing charges of manslaughter with a firearm and robbery with a firearm.

The remains of 20 year old Lawrence Robert Butt were found in a burned out holiday trailer southeast of Peace River on May 17, 2017. Also know as Lawrence Villeneuve, Butt had been living in the town, and an autopsy determined he was murdered. His cause of death has not been released.

In June 2017, Peace Regional RCMP announced four people had been arrested and charged, including another person from Grande Prairie. Then-30 year old Blake Murphy was charged with one count of first degree murder.

Kyle Dudbroy-Clement and Lucas Lundstrom of Peace River were both charged with accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a body, while Bonnie Casselton was charged with indignity to a body. Further investigation has led police to lay more charges against Dudbroy-Clement, including manslaughter with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and break and enter.
