Longest ski season ever for Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park

The record snowfall this week in Grande Prairie has pushed Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park to its longest ski season in history. Nitehawk had its earliest ever soft opening on November 18, 2017, and general manager Duane Stevenson says this is the first time he’s ever heard of it staying open until April 22nd.

“Back when I started in 2006, we were happy to be doing the first week of December, and typically we go to the end of March, so four months is normal.”

While the extended season can be hard on staff, Stevenson says it’s easier now that their operations are year-round. Nitehawk recently took over operations of the former Wee Links Golf Course and Campground.

“Our goal is to have people that can work with us in the winter, and then we can keep them busy throughout the summer with our mountain bike business, our RV park business, and then last year we took on the pitch n’ putt with Bear Paw,” Stevenson says. “Also last year we started up a tube slide.”

There will be discounts on lift tickets, rentals, and tubing Saturday and Sunday to try to get as many people out for the “bonus weekend” as possible. It’s hoped things will dry up soon after that so Nitehawk can prepare for the upcoming summer season at South Bear Creek Park and its mountain bike park.
