City and county marking Earth Day together

The city and county are marking Earth Day together with a free family focused event at the Montrose Cultural Centre. Bats, Bees, Birds and Trees will feature local eco-friendly businesses and it will feature “eco-friendly activities”. The city’s website says you will leave with new ideas for re-purposing household items. Attendees are encouraged to bring old glass jars and lids.

To mark the day the city will also make transit free to everyone. According to the city, bringing local vendors together at an event like this makes information about environmentally friendly initiatives easily accessible.

The event will run from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday April 21, 2018. This year’s City Scrub will be held from April 22nd to 30th, with organizations and volunteers from across the city helping to pick up garbage that has built up over the winter.
