Possible threat takes RCMP to Dawson Creek school

The City of Dawson Creek is the latest to deal with a reported threat of school violence. On Wednesday, RCMP got a report of a student allegedly bringing a gun to school, and both Dawson Creek Secondary School campuses were put under hold and secure protocol.

Police investigation found a threat was made two to three weeks prior, and the school was already aware and dealing with the student involved. The information made its way around again as students made their way to school, which is why it seemed new.

“After a short time the security hold was removed by the school and it was determined there was no safety
concern for any students at this time,” says Constable Jamie Ekkel.

In Rocky Mountain House, a school went into lockdown Wednesday after RCMP got a call about a teen boy carrying a long barrel gun near a school. Everyone was deemed to be safe and an investigation is underway.
