68 year old snowfall record shattered

Grande Prairie has more than doubled a nearly 70 year old snowfall record. Unofficially, 9.4 centimetres fell at the airport Monday, while the record was 4.3.

That was set back in 1950. Environment Canada says a precipitation record was also broken, with 9.2 millimetres just beating the 8.9 seen on April 16, 1986.

The snowfall warning for the region has ended, but around two more centimetres is expected in the city Tuesday.
