Provincial regulations have been established. They include who can own cannabis retail stores, where they can be located, and more. While these regulations are province-wide, municipalities can make some adjustments if they choose to.
City management plans to update committee and council in April on the proposed local approach. The city is anticipating they will begin collecting applications later this spring. A provincial license is also required, that application process opened in early March.
Reports say Conservative Senate members may try to defeat Bill C-45
during its second reading in Senate Thursday. Opposition members are calling the legislation rushed. The move would force the Liberals to start over, likely canceling any plans to have pot legalized by the summer.
