A total of four firearms were seized along with an improvised explosive device (IED) when RCMP searched a home in Grovedale. Rural members along with city members, an explosive disposal unit and a dog team were all a part of the March 17 search of the property.
Police say they were acting on a tip that there were a number of “prohibited weapons” in the home. During the search they discovered four guns, including one that was stolen. A computer and thumb drives were also seized. An IED was found and destroyed at the scene.
A 47 year-old Grande Prairie man is facing 22 weapons related charges. David Monette remains in custody ahead of a scheduled court appearance Wednesday.
