City considering another $71,000 for new bathroom at Kid's Place Preschool

In order to maintain their licensing requirements, the City is funding a new washroom for the Kid’s Place Preschool at the Dave Barr Community Centre.

$27,000 was put aside for the project last year, but Facility Maintenance Manager Mick Phillips explains the cost increased to $98,000 due to location issues.

“It is a little bit of a pricey washroom, but due to location restrictions and engineering we didn’t have a choice; it was only one location to put the washroom in.”

The preschool has to keep a certain ratio of children per supervisor.

With only one washroom for two programs right now, a staff member has to bring children into another room when one has to go to the washroom.

The additional money will be decided on at the next city council meeting.
