Premier Notley to speak at GP CUPE convention

Premier Rachel Notley will be the first Alberta premier to ever address the annual CUPE Alberta convention. It’s being held this year in Grande Prairie, and Notley will be making her remarks Friday morning.

“Notley is no stranger to union conventions,” the union wrote on its website. “Prior to her political life she worked as a union representative for the United Nurses of Alberta and the Health Sciences Association of B.C. The premier’s address comes after a year of worker-friendly labour law reforms by her government.”

She’ll be making her way to the Swan City Thursday, as she’ll also be part of an evening hosted by the New Democrats of Dunvegan Central – Peace Notley. It will be held with MLA Marg McCuaig-Boyd Thursday night at the Paradise Inn and is a ticketed event.
