Storm playoff series decided tonight

It’s do or die for the Grande Prairie Storm as they face off against the Sherwood Park Crusaders tonight. It’s game five of the best-of-five first round playoff series, with the two teams tied at two wins a piece.

The Storm are at home, which head coach Matt Keillor expects to be a major advantage. Game two saw nearly 1,500 people fill Revolution Place, and it’s hoped Wednesday’s crowd will top that.

“Especially with the way our crowds and the fans have been this year, it’s been excellent and it’s fun to play those games at home. The kids just seem to get that extra boost of energy and motivation in front of the large crowds.”

Both teams split their games at home, with the Storm taking the series lead twice. Keillor argues both teams are built similarly, and Grande Prairie would do best to focus on its own play heading into the deciding game.

“Practice was all about focusing on what we do and what we do best. I think that’s kind of going to be the key to things, and obviously keeping the puck out of back of the net.”

Puck drop for game five is 7:30 p.m. at Revolution Place. The winner will advance to the AJHL North Division semi-final against the Spruce Grove Saints.
