County disappointed by comments on Amber Ball fundraising results

The County of Grande Prairie has spoken out against recent comments made by Pipestone Creek Dinosaur Initiative Executive Director Brian Brake.

In an interview with local media, Brake expressed that the $350,000 raised at the Amber Ball Saturday night didn’t meet his expectations.

He particularly noted his disappointment that nothing came in from the celebrities that attended.

Reeve Leanne Beaupre maintains the County is overwhelmed every year by the support and generosity towards the event, including sponsors, attendees, volunteers, and celebrities like the Aykroyd family.

She adds they are looking at possible grants from the province to help cover what’s left for displays and exhibits at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum.

Brake was not immediately available for comment.
