Fox Creek RCMP looking for hitchhiking crash suspect

Fox Creek RCMP are looking to find the driver of a stolen vehicle involved in a crash Saturday morning. It was reported around 10:35 a.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 43.

Police say a silver SUV hit a semi truck that was pulled over on the side of the road. The SUV got stuck, and its driver ran off towards the town. It’s believed he hitchhiked and was picked up by a driver in a four-door SUV some time between 10:30 and 11 a.m.

The suspect is described as white, roughly 5’10” to 6’0″ tall with dark, medium length shaggy hair and facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket, dark pants that may have been similar to snow pants, and a back pack.

RCMP is asking the person who picked him up to contact the Fox Creek detachment, along with anyone else who may know something about the crash. An investigation has found the SUV was reported stolen out of Edmonton.
