The number of new houses being built in Grande Prairie so far this year is only two-thirds of what was happening last year.

There were 49 started last month, which brings the year-to-date total to 235.

However, at this point in 2013 there were already 375.

There are vastly more single family homes being built, at 185, while there’s only been 50 multi-family units so far.

Overall, the number of urban starts across Alberta is increasing, as the only province projected by Canada Mortgage and Housing to do so in 2014.
