Family Day long weekend activities

A variety of events will be held over the Family Day long weekend that will help families make the most of the extra day off together.

The city will be hosting events all weekend starting with a free public skate sponsored by Sun Life Financial from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Saturday. That will be held at the Dave Barr Community Centre. Skates are required on the ice. Helmets are also required for anyone under 18. Free skating will also be held Sunday at the Coca Cola Centre from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.

Revolution Place and New Horizon Co-Op will be hosting families from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday. The indoor family carnival will include bouncy castles, face painting and other family friendly activities. Then on Monday the pair will team up again to offer free skating on the Revolution Place rink from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

If the family is looking to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air the Winterlude Celebration will take over Muskoseepi Park Monday. It will include sleigh rides, skating, local artists and more. Admission to Winterlude is $5.00.

The Eastlink Centre will also be allowing free access to their furled house between noon and 5:00 p.m. on Monday and swimming will be free from noon until 4:30.

Winter Blast is a free “event series” where the city encourages neighbourhoods to organize their own long weekend festivities and will be happening in a variety of places around town all weekend.
