UPDATED: Extreme cold warning ended for Grande Prairie and area

Environment Canada ended the extreme cold warning for the region early Friday afternoon. The forecast for the Saturday calls for wind chills to continue to be a factor right through Saturday morning.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the Peace Region. Wind chills near -40 are expected this morning.

Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. The warning includes the city of Grande Prairie as well as Hythe, Beaverlodge, Wembley and Valleyview. They also say if it is too cold for you to stay outside, it is too cold for your pet to stay outside.

The forecast for Friday afternoon calls for wind chills around -28.
