The doors of the new Greenview Regional Multiplex in Valleyview offically open tomorrow. Ground officially broke on the $36 million project in December 2015, and it was originally scheduled to open last year.
The MD of Greenview and the Town of Valleyview split the bill, with the town ending up covering 17 per cent. A fundraising committee was able to bring in $1.6 million, well surpassing their goal of $1 million. To celebrate the grand opening, some of the fundraising surplus has been used to to host a community event, highlighted by country singer Brett Kissel in concert on March 9th.
The finished facility has an aquatics area with a four lane, 25 metre pool, a whirl pool, and a leisure pool with a lazy river and tots area. Also in the building is a children’s play area with a two-story play structure and a tots area, along with a commercial kitchen.
The fieldhouse has room for basketball, badminton and volleyball, and room for 575 people as an events centre. There’s also a third floor track around the fieldhouse.
