Grande Prairie has lost a little romance. Over the past year, it has dropped from fourth to 15th on Amazon Canada’s list of Canada’s Most Romantic Cities.
The online shop bases its rankings on sales of romance novels, romantic comedies, relationship books, jewelry and other adult products on a per capita basis in 2017. Last year was the first year the Swan City made an appearance, listed high for how many Danielle Steel novels were purchased in 2016.
Grande Prairie is the only returning Alberta city on the list, with Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Edmonton all dropping off. They were replaced this year by Fort McMurray (5), Spruce Grove (6), Sherwood Park (8), and Airdrie (16).
Victoria, B.C. is the most romantic city in Canada for the sixth year in a row. Nine of the top 10 cities are in western Canada.
