UPDATE #2: Traffic has returned to normal.
UPDATE: RCMP say one driver was taken to hospital in critical condition after a semi turning south on Highway 43 was hit from behind by a southbound car around 7:10 p.m. That car then skidded into the northbound lanes, where it was hit by a pickup truck. The car’s driver was the one taken to hospital by ambulance, and no other injuries were reported.
Traffic is expected to be detoured for the next several hours. Drivers heading north are asked to take Township Road 721 west, and then Range Road 103 north to get back to the highway.
Southbound traffic should take Range Road 103 south then Township Road 721 east to return to the highway. The crash is still under investigation and police say all factors are being considered.
Traffic is being detoured around a serious crash on Highway 43. RCMP say three vehicles are involved at the intersection with Township Road 722, three kilometres north of Beaverlodge.
Drivers are being asked to take an alternate route. No further information on the crash has been released.
