Distracted driving leads to drug bust

A potential ticket for distracted driving turned into a drug bust earlier this week. Police say the driver didn’t stop when they tried to pull him over around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

He was reportedly found in a different vehicle later on, and was arrested without incident. A search of the first vehicle turned up almost 65 grams of magic mushrooms, 23.5 grams of cocaine, 16 grams of marijuana, two grams of heroin, and a gram of meth. A small amount of ammunition was also found, along with $1,450 cash.

A 30 year old man from Grande Prairie is facing several drug trafficking charges, three counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, and other offences related to not stopping for police and distracted driving. He remains in custody with a court date on January 29th.
