Charges laid in hardware store thefts

Grande Prairie RCMP believe the same person is responsible for thefts from building supplies stores in both Grande Prairie and Rycroft. The local RONA reported stolen money in August 2017, and the investigation reportedly connected the suspect with an unsolved case of money stolen from Rycroft Building Supplies in 2012 and 2013.

25 year old Ghislain Dugas of Grande Prairie is facing two counts each of theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000. He’s set to appear in court on January 31st and RCMP ask anyone with information that could help to contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Anyone who suspects they are the victim of fraud is urged to report it to police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and notify their credit card companies, banks, Canada Post, and utility providers. They should also change their PIN and passwords and review their financial statements.
