UPDATE: RCMP warn against travel on Highway 40 and Highway 43

UPDATE: An Alberta Emergency Alert has been issued for hazardous road conditions on Highway 43 from Valleyview to Eagle Tower Road south of Fox Creek. The province says travel has become extremely dangerous due to freezing rain.

RCMP say travel isn’t recommended. Drivers should be prepared to stop. Traffic may be delayed due to multiple crashes.

Grande Prairie RCMP are advising against travel in the region unless necessary. Extremely icy conditions are being reported on Highway 40 south of Grande Prairie.

Officers are currently responding to a multi-vehicle crash at the Cutbank River. There are also numerous vehicles in the ditch.

Drivers in the area are reminded to be careful around emergency vehicles.
