UPDATE: As of September 10, 2018, all the charges against Benson have been stayed.
A Grande Prairie man has allegedly been arrested with more than a kilogram of cocaine on him. Hinton RCMP pulled over the vehicle he was driving around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning for a provincial infraction.
34 year old Drew Michael Benson was arrested, and a search of the vehicle turned up 1,040 grams of cocaine. Benson has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as obstruction. He remains in police custody with a court date set for January 11th in Jasper.
