Suspicious vehicle leads to drugs, weapons

A large amount of cocaine and meth have been seized by RCMP after they inspected a suspicious vehicle along Highway 43. RCMP responded to the vehicle east of Wembley around 6:45 p.m. on January 3rd.

Officers spoke with the three men inside, and arrested one of them without incident. Further search of the vehicle turned up nearly 106 grams of crack cocaine and almost 118 grams of meth, along with more than 17.5 grams of heroin and $1250 in cash. Police also found a gun, ammunition, a butterfly knife and brass knuckles.

40 year old Steven Brown has been charged with 15 offences, including multiple counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, among others. He remains in custody with a court date set for January 10th.

Constable Gabrielle Spencer thanks the public for their help in the case, and encourages everyone to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

“This was a great example of cooperation between police and the public we serve. The valuable information provided by the public led to this arrest and a large amount of illegal drugs and a firearm being removed from our streets.”
