One dead in Highway 40 crash

Grande Prairie RCMP have confirmed the crash on Highway 40 Thursday morning claimed a life. Officers were called to the collision between a semi and a pickup truck near the Canfor Road a little before 6:30 a.m.

Police say the semi was headed northbound when the pickup truck turned south from the Canfor Road onto the highway. The semi hit the pickup on the driver’s side.

The 59 year old Grande Prairie man driving the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the pickup. His next of kin has been notified and his name is not being released.

An RCMP collision analyst has been called in to help investigate the fatal crash. It remains under investigation and police say all possible factors are being considered.
