Woman attacked by cougar on Nose Mountain

An Environment and Sustainable Resource Development employee has been injured in a cougar attack

Public Affairs Officer Jamie Hanlon says the female was working at a field camp on Nose Mountain southwest of Grande Prairie Tuesday night.

“She was on or near the camp area when the attack occurred. We had a number of ESRD staff members that were able to enact a safety plan and provide her with first aid assistance until we were able to have her evacuated to the hospital.”

STARS Air Ambulance responded at 11 p.m. and transported her to the QEII Hospital.
