Poppy campaign underway

Remembrance Day is just around the corner and poppies are now available in many locations around town. Each legion branch manages their own poppy fund. The money raised by the sales is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the the Legion and the veterans it supports.

Legion Manager Moe Morgan explains that any veterans or dependants that need support can access the money, including RCMP members. He says they go through about 50,000 poppies every year.

The legion ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Revolution Place on Remembrance Day. Anavets will also host a ceremony November 11 at the cenotaph in Jubilee Park at 11:00 a.m.
