Alison Redford has resigned as MLA for her Calgary-Elbow riding.
Redford stepped down as Premier in March, amidst concerns and complaints about her leadership.
Redford’s resignation comes a day before the Auditor General is set to release a report on the expenses of her office while she was premier.
Redford came under particularly heavy fire over a $45,000 trip to South Africa, a proposed penthouse suite in the Federal Building in Edmonton, and most recently, for booking false passengers on at least a dozen government flights.

In an article in a Calgary newspaper, Redford says mistakes were made along the way, and it’s time to start the next chapter in her life.
