Valleyview Jets fold ahead of NPHL season

Yet another North Peace Hockey League team has folded. The Valleyview Jets are dropping out due to a lack of players.

The move comes less than two weeks before the start of the 2017-2018 season, and less than two weeks after the Spirit River Rangers announced they were taking a one year leave of absence. It leaves the NPHL with seven teams, thanks to the High Prairie Regals and the Manning Comets returning this year.

NPHL President Jack McAvoy says the league won’t be creating a new schedule, instead adding games to make up for the ones lost. The remaining seven teams include the Falher Pirates and Grimshaw Huskies in the East Division with the Regals and Comets, and the Dawson Creek Canucks, Fort St. John Flyers and Grande Prairie Athletics in the West.

The Hythe Mustangs remain on hiatus, along with the Lakeland Eagles.
