Gravel truck crash claims life of Fairview man

A 78 year old Fairview man has been killed in a crash with a gravel truck. He was driving a pickup west on Township Road 824 northwest of the town as the gravel truck headed north just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The pickup hit the passenger side of the gravel truck and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released. The driver of the gravel truck was taken to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fairview RCMP are investigating and say weather and road conditions at the time don’t appear to have been factors in the crash. Corporal Curtis Peters adds it’s believed the pickup had the right-of-way at the intersection.
