Grande Prairie’s best businesses recognized

Nitehawk Year Round Adventure Park has been named Grande Prairie’s Business of the Year. It took home the prize for a company with 10 to 100 employees at the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce Awards of Distinction Wednesday night.

There was a tie for the title for a business with under 10 employees, which went to Tire Pro and Walk Run & More. The Best New Business award was given to Grand Banks Seafood Market & Bistro, while Caitlin Card of Card’s Board Game Cafe was named Young Entrepreneur.

2017’s Employer of Choice is Hi Tech Business Systems and the Service Superstar is Crystal Martens for going above and beyond at the GP Regional Tourism Association. The Grande Prairie Stompede Association won the Community Spirit Award, and the GP International Street Performers Festival earned the Arts and Culture nod.

Also taking home awards were Braeheid Gardens for Marketing and No Frills for being the best employer of persons with challenges. Trusted Dispatch won The Innovator title and CIA Solutions won the Eagle Feather award as a First Nation, Métis or Inuit owned business that demonstrates outstanding achievement in business.

All of the 13 finalists will be submitted for consideration for the Alberta Chambers of Commerce Awards of Distinction in February 2018. They were chosen by a selection committee of Chamber board members and event sponsors, along with an online vote component.
