Downtown construction to wrap up by early November

If all goes to plan, the first two phases of downtown rehabilitation will be done in a month or so. The city now pegs completion for early November, depending on the weather.

The contractor says they still need to install paving stones, furniture, street lights and planter beds. There’s also some final paving remaining.

For the time being, 101 Street between 100 Avenue and 103 Avenue is still closed to traffic, other than the intersection with 101 Avenue, along with 101 Avenue between 100 Street and 102 Street. It’s expected pedestrians will be able to use the 101/101 intersection at the end of October, with vehicles allowed through in early November.

The first phase of the project was supposed to wrap up in 2016, but was pushed back due to poor weather. Phases three and four will take crews along 100th Avenue between 102nd and 100th Street and then 100th to 98th Street. Preliminary designs have been drawn up, but direction will be left up to the new city council.
