Manning standoff ends peacefully

A standoff with police in Manning ended peacefully early Tuesday morning. RCMP were called to a disturbance at a property in the northwest part of the town around 11:30 p.m. Monday night.

When they got there, officers found a man sitting in a vehicle with a gun. People in a home nearby were evacuated, and after roughly two hours of negotiations, the man surrendered. No injuries were reported, and police say the firearm turned out to be a BB gun.

34 year old Kyle Patrick Neel of Manning is facing several charges, including mischief, uttering threats, careless use of a firearm and causing a disturbance. He’s also charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one for the purpose of trafficking.

Neel is now in RCMP custody and is set to appear in Peace River court on October 16th.
