Grade six students will get a first hand example of democracy in action Wednesday. All of the candidates running in this municipal election have been invited by the Grande Prairie Public School District to take part in a political forum with some of their students.

Grade six curriculum focuses on local and provincial government. GPPSD says the students also learn about how the rights of individuals are protected and “how democracy allows people to influence change in their communities.”

More than 600 sixth graders will attend the event at École Montrose. They will also participate in a province-wide non-partisan student vote.
