Emergency services marking Canada’s 150th with formal ball

Local emergency services are celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary with a formal ball. The event is being hosted by the Grande Prairie RCMP, Grande Prairie Fire Department, County of Grande Prairie Fire Departments, Enforcement Services and Grande Prairie EMS on October 7th at Evergreen Park.

“There has been an emergency services ball before, but I don’t think there was as many partnerships in it,” explains Corporal Shawn Graham. “Obviously, this year is in collaboration with Canada’s 150th anniversary, so we’re promoting the strong partnership of our regional emergency services.”

Graham adds it’s an opportunity for the agencies and the public to mingle.

“Especially when situations arise or when people are in need, we all come together as one big team and it doesn’t matter where we’re from. We help each other out, so it’s nice for a change just to be in an environment where we can just talk to the public and everyone and have a good time.”

Tickets for the ball are $60 and are available by emailing [email protected], but Graham warns they’re selling quickly and are likely to all be gone by the end of the day Monday. The dress code is formal.
