Open houses on pair of Area Structure Plans Thursday night

A pair of open houses on area structure plans for two neighbourhoods in the City and County of Grande Prairie are scheduled for Thursday night.

At council chambers in Clairmont, residents will have a chance to see the final draft of the North West Clairmont Area Structure Plan.

The ASP is a long-term plan that looks at how the land between Range Road 65 and Highway 2 and Township Road 724 and 730 will be subdivided and developed. Currently, that section is zoned primarily for industrial and commercial development.

The open house marks the end of phase two, with only a public hearing and finalization left before it potentially gets adopted. It will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In Grande Prairie, the Hughes Lake Area Structure Plan is in its third and final phase. It addresses the land between the Grande Prairie Airport and the Highway 43 bypass currently under construction.

The ASP is meant to guide future long range planning and development in the area. The future land use concept and road network for the area have been determined based on previous consultation and a detailed technical evaluation, and the draft is being finalized.

Final feedback will be taken at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
