Entire Wembley council acclaimed

There will be no need for a municipal election in Wembley. Mayor Chris Turnmire has been acclaimed, along with all six town councillors. With councillors Rae-Lynne Robichaud and Colleen Holler not running for reelection, Turnmire says he’s glad to see there’s a full slate.

“It’s always a worry at nomination time to see whether or not you’re going to fill the council. I thank the people that stepped forward and put their name in for a four year commitment.”

Turnmire will be joined by incumbent councillors Tyrel Johnson, Sean McCallum, Marc Moncrieff, and Anna Underwood, as well as newcomers Cory Gunderson and Nicholas McDonald. He says he most wants to see the regional waterline completed in his time.

“We certainly aren’t going to grow if we don’t have a regional waterline; that’s going to certainly be a huge benefit to the community. We should have had that completed this year, but due to obtaining right-of-ways and that type of thing, we were delayed.”

Turnmire says upgrading infrastructure and planning for growth are also important to him. He credits his council with setting the direction and getting things done. The mayor encourages residents to attend meetings and have their say on what needs to be done going forward.
