Free transit in Grande Prairie Monday

Riding the bus in Grande Prairie will be free all day Monday. It’s Transit Awareness Day, and the city is hoping residents can try out its four new, 30 foot Vicinity buses with some activities and promotions.

There will be pizza onboard at select times and locations, including the Town Centre Mall. Some complimentary tickets will also be handed out, and there will be a draw to win other prizes.

“Transit Awareness Day is a great way to recognize the importance of city transit services,’ says Transit Manager Jason Henry. “Even if you are not a regular rider, I encourage everyone to consider taking transit to see our new Vicinity buses in action, and enjoy some perks on the day.”

Going forward, the day will be held the third Monday of every September. Transit will run as regularly scheduled.
