Geoff Walker, Team Gushue take Tour Challenge title

Geoff Walker and Team Gushue have started this year’s curling season with a big win. The reigning world champions went undefeated to take the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Tour Challenge Sunday in their hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The foursome took home $20,000 and has qualified for the Humpty’s Champions Cup, which ends the season from April 24th to 29th in Calgary. The win also makes skip Brad Gushue the first to win six different GSOC events, bringing his career total to eight.

Seven of those have been with his current crew, which includes third Mark Nichols, second Brett Gallant, and Walker as lead. The only one left to win is the Humpty’s Champions Cup. Up next on the tour is the Masters at the end of October in Lloydminster.
