Slow August for housing starts in Grande Prairie

After three straight months of growth, housing starts in Grande Prairie slowed down last month. According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, construction started on just three new single family homes in August. That’s down from nine single and two multi-family homes a year ago.

It brings the year-to-date total to 124, down from 151 through the first eight months of 2016. New builds of single family homes is up by 85 per cent, while multi-unit buildings are down by three-quarters.
