Derek Saretzky appealing triple-murder conviction and sentence

Derek Saretzky is appealing his triple-murder conviction and sentence. According to Global News, papers were filed Thursday afternoon.

Saretzky was sentenced to life in prison with no parole elibibility for at least 75 years. He was convicted of three counts of first degree murder in the deaths of two year old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, her father Terry Blanchette, and 69 year old Hanne Meketech. He was also found guilty of causing an indignity to Hailey’s body.

Saretzky’s lawyer calls the sentence “cruel and unusual punishment” and questions whether some evidence should have been allowed.
