One dead in holiday trailer fire

UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP have confirmed the deceased was a woman. An autopsy will be done in Edmonton to determine her cause of death.

A fire in a holiday trailer has claimed a life. The Grande Prairie Fire Department got a call about the blaze just before 2 a.m. Thursday and heard people may be trapped inside.

When they got to the intersection of 106 Street and 73 Avenue, the small trailer was fully engulfed in flames. A neighbour had pulled one person out, but they were declared dead by EMS on the scene.

The fire department isn’t releasing any information about the victim at this time. No other injuries have been reported.

Grande Prairie RCMP are now on the scene investigating, but there’s no word on the cause of the fire yet. Anyone with information is asked to contact the detachment.

This is the second death involving a fire in Grande Prairie in just two days. A woman’s body was found at the scene of an apartment fire on September 6th. Her cause of death is not yet known.
