ALERT makes largest drug bust in Grande Prairie since 2014

Nearly a quarter million dollars worth of drugs has been seized from four homes in Grande Prairie. They were searched by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team and RCMP on Friday, September 1st, with the majority of drugs found in a Riverstone home.

In total, officers turned up 1.3 kilograms of powder and crack cocaine, 573 grams of meth, 1,476 fentanyl pills, and roughly 20 grams of marijuana. They also found a Mercedes-Benz SUV and almost $2,000 cash. The vehicle and money will be handed over to the province’s civil forfeiture office.

Inspector Dave Dubnyk says this is the largest ALERT bust in Grande Prairie since October 2014, when 1.8 kilograms of cocaine and more than 1,800 fentanyl pills were seized.

“It was actually a very significant seizure for a town the size of Grande Prairie. A seizure of this amount certainly will impact the amount of drugs that are seen, at least in the short term.”

29 year old Khristopher Ali and 59 year old Robert Kinnon have each been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Ali has also been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.
