County files response to city annexation application

The County has filed it’s response to the city’s annexation application, suggesting that a much smaller parcel of land would be needed to fulfill the city’s 30 year land requirements.

County CAO Bill Rogan says they have proposed reducing the size of the proposed annexed land from almost 63 hundred hectares, to just over 543 hectares, if the two sides can not reach an agreement.

“The alternative that we are proposing, should we not be able to make an agreement on the larger area, is some land west and south of the airport that are in the current proposal, but again it is a much smaller area.”

Ratepayers have until June 2nd to respond to both submissions, with the City having until June 9th to respond to the County’s request.
