Peace Regional mountie pleads guilty to assaulting prisoner

A RCMP member from the Peace Regional detachment has been sentenced to 18 months probation for assault causing bodily harm. Corporal Mark Potts was charged in October 2016 for allegedly assaulting a prisoner while transporting him from Manning to Peace River. He plead guilty on Tuesday, August 22nd.

The incident occurred on April 15th, 2016 and was reported by a fellow officer from Peace River on April 20th. Potts was suspended from duty following an investigation, and now that his criminal case has been closed, the RCMP will review his duty status.
