Fire advisory lifted in Grande Prairie area

The Fire Advisory that was issued last week has been lifted. This means fire permits can be issued once again. Wildfire Information Officer Melinda Paplawski explains that any requests for burning of heavy fuels will be assessed case-by-case.

The recent rainfall has also dropped the wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Protection area from very high down to moderate. Right now, one wildfire is burning in the area at 1.3 hectares.

Paplawski reminds residents to check their off-highway vehicles for hot spots and never leave a campfire without completely putting it out.
