Fire advisory continues in Grande Prairie area

A fire advisory continues for the Grande Prairie Forest Area. That means no new burn permits will be issued until the region gets enough rain to remove it. Safe campfires are still allowed.

Wildfire information officer Melinda Paplawski says warm weather forecast for Tuesday increases the conditions for forest fuels. If a fire were to spark, it would spread quickly and the fire hazard in the area remains at very high.

So far this season there have been 40 wildfires that have burned 7.41 hectares of land in the GP Forest Area.
