Properties more than double for tax sale

There are 47 properties up for auction this November due to people not paying their taxes on time. The annual tax sale allows the city to send out notifications to businesses or home owners letting them know they owe money to the city. If they do not pay, the public will be allowed to bid on the property at an upcoming auction.

Each parcel of land goes up as a reserve bid that is as close as possible to the market value. Homeowners do have up until the day of the sale to pay their overdue taxes and remove their home from the auction block.

The auction will be held in the North Conference Room at City Hall on November 24, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. There is more than double the amount of property owners that owe this year compared to last year. In 2016, 19 properties were up for auction while 39 were up for sale in 2015. In 2014, there were 32 properties for sale compared to 35 in 2013.
